Spinal Therapy

Spine therapy at Victory Rehabilitation focuses on conditions affecting the spine, such as disc herniations, disc buldges, degenerative disorders,  postural issues and Post-surgical conditions. Our therapists effectivley treat acute and chronic conditions employing targeted exercises, manual techniques, and spine-specific interventions to alleviate pain and improve spinal function. Here are some common spine conditions treated by physical therapy:

  1. Low back pain: Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek help. It can result from muscle strains, ligament sprains, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, facet joint dysfunction, or poor posture. Our therapists aim to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function through a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, modalities, and patient education.

  2. Neck pain: Neck pain can be caused by muscle strains, cervical disc herniation, cervical radiculopathy, facet joint dysfunction, whiplash injuries, or osteoarthritis.  Interventions such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, cervical traction, modalities, and ergonomic modifications help alleviate pain, improve cervical spine mobility, and restore function.

  3. Herniated disc: A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner core of a spinal disc protrudes through its outer shell, causing compression of nearby nerves and resulting in pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness. We focus on relieving nerve compression, reducing pain and inflammation, improving spinal mobility, and strengthening supporting muscles through specific exercises, manual therapy, and modalities.

  4. Sciatica: Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve, typically down the buttock and into the leg. It is commonly caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve due to a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, or piriformis syndrome. Interventions aim to alleviate nerve compression, reduce pain, improve mobility, and address underlying biomechanical factors contributing to sciatica.

  5. Spinal stenosis: Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal or intervertebral foramina, leading to compression of the spinal cord or nerve roots. It can cause symptoms such as back pain, leg pain, numbness, weakness, and difficulty walking. Our Therapists focus on improving spinal mobility, strengthening supporting muscles, and modifying activity to alleviate symptoms and improve function.

  6. Spondylolisthesis: Spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra slips forward relative to the adjacent vertebra, often due to degenerative changes, fractures, or congenital abnormalities. Interventions aim to stabilize the spine, strengthen supporting muscles, improve posture, and alleviate pain through targeted exercises, manual therapy, and postural correction.

  7. Degenerative disc disease: Degenerative disc disease is a condition characterized by the breakdown of spinal discs, leading to decreased disc height, loss of hydration, and spinal instability. Physical therapy focuses on improving spinal mobility, strengthening supporting muscles, and reducing pain through exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and patient education.

  8. Postural dysfunction: Poor posture can contribute to various spine conditions, including neck pain, low back pain, and spinal deformities. We address postural dysfunction by providing education on proper posture and ergonomics, prescribing corrective exercises, and implementing ergonomic modifications to prevent further strain on the spine.

  9. Spinal deformities: Spinal deformities such as scoliosis, kyphosis, and lordosis can affect spinal alignment, posture, and function. We seek to  improve spinal alignment, strengthen supporting muscles, improve posture, and alleviate pain through targeted exercises, manual therapy, and postural correction techniques.

  10. Post-surgical rehabilitation: Victory Rehabilitation plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation process following spine surgery, such as spinal fusion, laminectomy, discectomy, or decompression surgery. Therapists help restore mobility, strength, and function, manage pain, and facilitate safe return to activities through targeted exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and patient education.

Victory Rehabilitation utilizes a variety of evidence-based interventions to address the specific needs and goals of each individual, with the overarching aim of reducing pain, improving function, and enhancing quality of life.
